- June 4 – The History of Friendly’s Ice Cream. Rose Slate, retail customer service manager for Friendly’s and unofficial company historian, looks back at the proud 80-year history of the restaurant chain.
- June 11 – Everett Barney: A Tale of Steel & Ice. Dr. Robert M. Girard discusses the often overlooked genius of Springfield resident Everett Barney (1835-1916), inventor, entrepreneur & philanthropist.
- June 18 – American Impressionism: From the Hudson River School to Art Colonies. Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman, co-founders of ArtScapades, will explain how Impressionism arrived in America and the role of the art colony movement, in advance of the landmark exhibit coming to the D’Amour MFA next month.
- June 25 – The American Renaissance: Artists and Collectors in the Victorian Era. Guy McLain, director, Wood Museum of Springfield History, discusses the distinctly American art that emerged in the late nineteenth century, as demonstrated by artists like John Singer Sargent, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, and H.H. Richardson.
Monthly Walking Tours are presented on second Saturdays in collaboration with the Armoury-Quadrangle Civic Association (AQCA). This year’s tours will revisit Springfield street locations that were photographed by the WPA 75 years ago. On June 13, join architect Bill Devlin for a tour of Salem, Elliot & Mattoon Streets. Walking tours are free for Springfield Museums and AQCA members, $5 nonmembers, and start at the Museums’ Welcome Center.
