October 2011 Museums à la Carte Programs

The Springfield Museums will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in October. The programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 pm in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.


Oct. 6 – Springfield’s Women: William Pynchon’s Settlement to Modern City; Frances Gagnon, Springfield historian.

Oct. 13 – India: From Bengal to the Malabar Coast; Amy S. Dane, docent, Springfield Museums.

Oct. 20  – Springfield’s 375th Anniversary; Wayne Phaneuf, historian and executive editor, The Republican.

Oct. 27  – The Garden of Eden: Landscape Painting in 19th Century America; Gloria Russell, art historian and critic.

Admission to Museums à la Carte is $4 ($2 for members of the Springfield Museums). The programs are sponsored by Big Y World Class Market. Visitors are invited to bring lunch to enjoy during the program. Cookies and coffee are provided. Parking is free.
