Families are invited to enter the magical world of lords, ladies and knights in shining armor during "Medieval Days" at the Springfield Museums from December 26-29. Activities are free with the price of museum admission unless noted.
Scheduled Performances Wednesday, Dec. 26 Tom Foolery of Fooltales gets "pun-y" in the museum galleries, noon-12:30 p.m. Tom presents a comedy magic show, 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 Safari Dan introduces some critters from the Solutia Live Animal Center, 11 a.m. See costumed knights and a sword fighting demonstration presented by Autumn Tree Productions, 11:30 a.m., 2 & 3 p.m. The No Strings Marionette Company presents Wasabi: A Dragon's Tale, 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28 Safari Dan introduces some critters from the Solutia Live Animal Center, 11 a.m. Come to a medieval princess tea party (recommended for ages 4-12; seating first-come, first served), 11:30 a.m., 2:15 & 3:15 p.m. The Tanglewood Marionettes present Hansel & Gretel, 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 Roger the Jester performs A Fool for All Reasons, 1 p.m. Roger clowns around the museum galleries before and after the show, noon-12:30 p.m. and 2-3 p.m. Daily Activities Medieval Mix-up: Make art projects such as 3D dragons, magic scratch crowns and tiaras, castle collages, medieval flutes, shields, swords and more. Activities will change throughout the week, 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Make stained glass windows and colorful designs from the Middle Ages in the Art Discovery Center, noon-3:45 p.m. Explore sound, electricity, chemistry and weather in hands-on Family Science Adventures, noon-3:45 p.m. See a planetarium show, 11:15 a.m., noon, 1 & 2 p.m. (additional fee).
