Program Highlights

Silly Sounds and How We Hear Them, 11 am-1 pm & 2 pm-3 pm
Sound tubes, mallets, tart pans, drums, shaky eggs, and noise makers galore! Fill the Quad with silly sounds and join one of our educators to learn how our ears process what we hear.

Meet the Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2, 11 am-1 pm & 2 pm-3 pm
Take your photo with Dr. Seuss’s most iconic character, then visit with the mischievous pair– and maybe help them keep out of trouble!

Performance on the Quad with Keith Munslow, 1 pm
In his highly interactive triple-whammy show, Keith delivers fun, funky music, lightning-fast cartooning, and hilarious stories that will have grown-ups laughing as much as the kids! Keith’s rhythmic piano playing, on-the-spot improvisations and quick wit combine for an interactive, upbeat, positive experience.

Ongoing Activities

Spark!Lab on the Quad: Oh the Places We’ll Float, 11 am-1 pm and 2 pm-3 pm
Learn the thermodynamics of what makes hot air balloons float through the sky, and make a tissue paper balloon of your own to launch.

Green Egg Hunt/LEGO® Sculpture, 11 am-3 pm
Search the Quad for a green plastic egg filled with LEGO building blocks! Bring it back and add all of your LEGO® building blocks to our large, silly, community sculpture. Keep searching and building as long as you please! When you’re done, go into the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts to see Ai Weiwei’s Zodiac made out of LEGO building blocks.

Color a Dr. Seuss Magnet, 11 am-3 pm
Grab a pack of primary crayons and color a Dr. Seuss magnet however you choose.

Rhyming Scavenger Hunt, 11 am-3:45 pm
Take a look at our list, and see if you can find objects in the Science Museum that rhyme with each clue. Return your list to the Art Discovery Center to win a magnet bookmark.

Art Discovery Center: Create a Silly Character, 12-4 pm
Imagine a story of your very own and create a main character collage. Using markers, glue, googly eyes, feathers, and patterned papers, and more, create the silliest creature you can imagine!
