The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will host “LittleFest of Storytelling V” on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program is free. Activities planned for outdoors will be held inside if it rains.
The multi-cultural children’s literature festival is sponsored by Cherish Every Child, an initiative of the Irene E. and George A. Davis Foundation; the Springfield City Library; and WGBY Public Television for Western New England. Families are invited to join us for the following activities:
Performances
· 10-10:15 a.m., 11-11:15 a.m., noon-12:15 p.m., 1-1:15 p.m., Central Library – Meet Buddy the Dinosaur, the preschool-aged Tyrannosaurus Rex that stars in the upcoming PBS series, “Dinosaur Train.”
· 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m., Central Library – Circle of Songs by Hugh Hanley, a sing-along, play-along concert for young children and their families.
· 11:30 a.m. & 1:15 p.m., outdoors on the Quadrangle – Omakase: Many Cultures, Many Tales by Mark Binder, a program of folk tales and original stories from Africa, India, Asia, Europe, America and Australia. (rain location: D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, Davis Auditorium)
Ongoing Activities
· 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Quadrangle Tent – Free book give-away while supplies last, courtesy of the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation.
· 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Quadrangle Tent – Information Fair – Learn more about services and programs offered to families with young children.
· Noon-3:45 p.m. – Art activities in the G.W.V. Smith Art Museum and Central Library Children’s Room.
LittleFest activities are free, but non-Springfield residents wishing to tour the museums must pay museum admission.
