A few spaces are still available in the Springfield Museums' tour of the cultural highlights and natural wonders of Australia and New Zealand, scheduled for March 4-24, 2007. The trip includes a two-night stay in Hawaii. The deadline for reservations is November 17.
Sydney is the first stop in Australia, with visits to museums and architectural gems including the Sydney Opera House. Travelers will also discover the tropical rain forests and marine life of the Great Barrier Reef, explore the outback, spend a night in Alice Springs, and learn about the constellations of the Southern Hemisphere. In Melbourne, the arts and cultural capital of Australia, the group will visit the National Gallery of Victoria to view its outstanding collection of Aboriginal art. In New Zealand's South Island, we'll visit Christchurch, known for its British charm, Victorian Gothic buildings and beautiful gardens. The last stop is Queenstown via the TransAlpine train, considered one of the top 10 scenic tours in the world with its spectacular views of the Southern Alps. The trip will be escorted by Jeanne Fontaine, courses and travel curator at the Springfield Museums. For more information or to request a complete itinerary, call 413-263-6800 ext. 382.
