Zonta Club of Springfield Presents Springfield Museums with $10,000 Gift in Support of the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum

On Wednesday, April 19, the The Zonta Club of Springfield presented the Springfield Museums with a $10,000 gift in support of The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum. Current Zonta Club of Springfield President Linda Alston—along with past presidents Aurora Fleming, Mary Socha, and Denise Reed—made their gift to Springfield Museums President Kay Simpson in a ceremony under the arch of the Dr. Seuss Museum.

The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum, which opens June 3, houses a permanent, bilingual exhibition designed to introduce children and their families to the stories of Ted Geisel, promote the joy of reading, and nurture literacy skills. The museum features interactive exhibits, as well as a recreation of Geisel’s studio.

The Zonta Club of Springfield was founded in 1929, and has a long tradition of local projects promoting women’s economic self-sufficiency, legislative equality, and access to education and health.
