Learn to create excitement and spontaneity of response through quick-sketch impressionist techniques. Capture a sense of atmosphere, light effects, movement of clouds, flowing or tranquil water, transparency, reflections, and more. Working from photos, we’ll explore underpainting techniques combined with a variety of impressionist strokes to create expressive and harmonious pastel paintings of these extraordinary subjects. Concentration will be on design, underpainting, application techniques, broken color effects, and completion strategies. Demonstrations, historical references, helpful hints, critiques, and lots of painting time. All levels welcome. Supply list provided.
