Sculptor Andrew DeVries creates, casts and finishes his bronze sculptures at his studio in the western hilltown of Middlefield, Massachusetts. This lecture follows the unusual journey of the artist from his upbringing on a dairy farm, to a ballet studio in Denver, to a bronze foundry and finally to the present day. Andrew will also explain the ancient art of the lost wax method. Currently, there are three of his outdoor dance sculptures on exhibit near the Blake House on the Springfield Museums grounds.
