2008 Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash

The Springfield Museums' Weekend Family Fun series will continue on Saturday, March 1, with a birthday bash for Dr. Seuss. Theodor Seuss Geisel was born in Springfield on March 2, 1904.


Weekend Family Fun programs are sponsored by T.D. Banknorth. Activities are free with museum admission. Performances 11-11:30 a.m.- Visit with Ronald McDonald as he reads Green Eggs and Ham; Science Museum. Noon-12:30 p.m.- Hear a performance by the Boland School Seuss Singers; Science Museum. 1-2 p.m. – Join the "Lend Me a Hand Band" as they Celebrate Seuss; Museum of Fine Arts. 2:30-3 p.m.- Join the 7 Hills Show Choir as they sing some Seussian songs; Science Museum. Ongoing Activities 11 a.m.-1 p.m.- Meet the Cat in the Hat as he prowls the museum galleries. 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m – Dr. Seuss Takes the Cake contest. Stop by and vote for your favorite cake donated by area bakeries. The winner will be announced at 2:35; Museum of Fine Arts. 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. – Create a pot for a Truffula plant; Science Museum. Noon-3:45 p.m. – Make a Green Eggs and Ham placemat; G.W.V. Smith Art Museum. 2-4 p.m. – Have your face painted in a Seuss-ational design; Science Museum. 2:45-3:30 p.m. – Have a piece of birthday cake in honor of Dr. Seuss; Museum of Fine Arts.
