Celebrate Summer 2011 at the Springfield Museums

Family fun is in store for visitors to the Springfield Museums from July 11 through August 26 during “Summer Celebration,” seven weeks of live performances, puppet shows, art activities, and hands-on science activities. Live performances will be offered on Toe-Tapping Tuesdays, Wacky Wednesdays, and Fun Fridays.


The series will kick off July 11. Activities are free with the price of museum admission unless noted. “Summer Celebration” is sponsored in part by Berkshire Bank.

Daily Activities, July 11-15

  • Hands-on Family Science Adventures, 10 am-1 pm
  • Planetarium Shows, 11:15 am, noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm (additional fee)
  • Art-making activity: Create a 3-D aquarium, noon-3:45 pm

Tuesday, July 12
Performance: Jazz: America’s Music from New Orleans to New York by Made in the Shade, 1 pm

Wednesday, July 13
Performance: Wacky Chad: Stunt Comedian, a super-charged family show with funny jokes and crazy stunts, 1 pm

Friday, July 15
Performance: Calypso Jam-O-Rama by Taino, rhythms and songs inspired by Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, 1 pm
