Today is Valley Gives Day – Give to the Springfield Museums

DONATE NOW >>

Beginning at midnight EST on December 10 and continuing until 11:59 pm EST, residents of western Massachusetts will go online to www.valleygivesday.org and make tax-deductible donations to directly support the important work of the Springfield Museums and other charities of their choice across the region. At the end of 24 hours, the nonprofits that have raised the most money, and those that have the most unique donors, will be rewarded with special grants from a prize pool of $225,000.

Through art courses, field trips, outreach and family programs, as well as cultural events, the Springfield Museums serve as an essential resource for the community and the region, stepping up to reach out to even more of our youth through innovative programs like Museums On the Go! and Us and Them: Discrimination During the Holocaust and Today – both of which are based on the Massachusetts curriculum frameworks and support interdisciplinary learning. Over 33,000 students have visited the Museums and the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden on field trips since 2010.

The minimum donation is $10, but gifts in any amount can make an impact in our community. For example, $75 allows 15 preschoolers to explore our Museums’ collections for the first time, while $200 provides 500 children with hands-on science and art activities right in our museum galleries.

Here’s how to help:

  • Mark 12.10.14 on your calendar and bookmark our Valley Gives page, http://www.razoo.com/story/Springfield-Museums. (Donations can also be scheduled starting 12.1.14, and will count towards the Museums’ Valley Gives total.)
  • Subscribe to our e-newsletter (at the top of this page) to receive Valley Gives updates and reminders.
  • Follow us on Facebook and Twitter and help build excitement for Valley Gives by using the hashtag: #ValleyGives.
  • Help spread the word! Share this post with your family and friends along with a personal note as to why you believe in our work, and why they should give on 12.10.14.

Valley Gives is hosted by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts in partnership with the Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts, the Jewish Endowment Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts, the Pioneer Valley United Way, The Davis Foundation, the United Way of Franklin County, the United Way of Hampshire County, and The
