Ninjas and Mixed Media

(Children ages 11-14) Using the museums’ collections and special exhibitions such as Turtle Power! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Samurai Heroes as our primary focus, students will create artwork from many types of subject matter.

Castle Building

(Children ages 8-11) Using papier mâche, mixed media and simple woodworking skills, create a sculptural, fantasy castle complete with towers, drawbridge and fortress walls!

Summer Science Sampler Week 3

(Children 6-8) Explore Native American, African cultures and art from around the globe! Learn about the Samurai and meet both Ninja turtles and live turtles.

Awesome Science Adventures

(Children ages 8-11) Explore exciting areas of science, from geology, rock identification to using microscopes and solar-powered cars.

Woodworking Open Shop

(Children ages 7-10) Learn basic woodworking skills as you practice how to measure, cut and assemble your wooden creations. Design and build your own project for the week. Special attention will be placed on safety and fun.

Summer Science Sampler: Week 2

(Children ages 6-8) The cars and motorcycles at the Wood Museum of Springfield History will take you on a trip through Springfield’s past. Gallery visits, hands-on crafts and artists’ performances will enhance the fun.

Wildlife Adventures

We will pack up the lab and visit the shores of the Connecticut River at the Fannie Stebbins Wildlife Refuge and hike the trails at the Fort River Wildlife Refuge for additional up close encounters with the natural world.

Earth’s Cool Creatures

Meet turtles face-to-face and learn their importance in the food web. Create your own diorama as you explore the enchanting world of coral reefs and the fascinating creatures that depend on them.
