Africa Playgroup

Come explore hands-on play and activity stations, make new friends, and learn about our world. Open to all children 0-5 with their caregivers. Activities may include playing with Galimotos, building our own African Safari exhibit from Legos, printing Adinkra symbols, handling furs and skins from different animals featured in the museum’s Africa Hall, and creating a different clothespin animal each week.

Gallery Activities

Microbes and Microscopes, 11 am-2 pm Analyze and sketch some specimens through the museum’s microscopes. Live Animal Demo, 11 am-2 pm Learn about the characteristics and adaptations of the scaly residents that call the Springfield Science Museum home.

Super Gallery Activities

Wall of Heroes, 10 am-5 pm Let the world know who your hero is! Whether he or she someone famous or someone right from your own home, tell us who your personal hero is and why! Super Hero Photo Booth, 10 am-5 pm Dress up in super hero gear and take a photos in front of our City Scape backdrop. Share your photos with the hashtag #atthemuseums.
