The Springfield Museums’ Summer Celebration series will conclude the week of August 22-26 with live performances presented at 1 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday and other activities presented daily.
Activities are free with the price of museum admission unless noted. Summer Celebration is sponsored in part by Berkshire Bank.
Daily Activities, August 22-26
- See a huge, moving robotic Tyrannosaurus rex, dig for fossils, and control your own computer-simulated dinosaur in the special exhibit Be the Dinosaur. (additional fee; exhibit open through Sept. 11.)
- Hands-on Family Science Adventures, 10 am-1 pm
- Planetarium Shows, 11:15 am, noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm (additional fee)
- Art-making activity: Make a camping-themed fan, noon-3:45 pm
- Pan for gems and minerals in the Museum Mining Company’s river sluice. (additional fee)
Tuesday, August 23
- Performance: Drum, Song, Story by Mark Shepard, an eclectic combination of family entertainment, 1 pm
Wednesday, August 24
- Performance: Charismatic Comedy Magic by Matt Roberts, 1 pm
Thursday, August 25
- Stonyfield Milk and Cookies Tour – Enjoy free samples of Omega-3 organic milk and organic cookies, along with prizes, coupons, games and fun; 11 am-1 pm
Friday, August 26
- Performance: The Case of the Missing Woodpile by the Gerwick Puppets, a summertime mystery, 1 pm
