Culture & Cocktails Explores the Secrets of the Smith

Mix up your work week with a toast to culture, community and conversation. “The Hidden Secrets of the Smith Museum,” the second event in this year’s Culture & Cocktails series, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 5 to 8 pm in the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum at the Quadrangle.


Admission is free for members of the Springfield Museums and $5 for non-members and will include free hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

The event is for people ages 21 and up. Both members and nonmembers are encouraged to make advance reservations through springfieldmuseums.org or by phone at 413.263.6800, ext. 266. Activities include:

  • Informal talk: “Unraveling the Mystery of the Mummy Padihershef” with Chuck and Irene Hayward.
  • Meet the Art Discovery Center artist, John Simpson.
  • Informal talk: “Who Were George & Belle Smith?” with Springfield historian Frances Gagnon. See where their ashes are hidden in the museum.
  • Tarot card readings by Shivani available! Additional fee: $20 for a 15-minute reading. To sign up in advance, email lmurray@springfieldmuseums.org.
  • Artist demonstrations by five Museum School instructors.
  • Enter to win a Museum School class or day trip.
