Ignore the Cold and Pretend You’re in Hawaii

Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt and join the fun at the “Aloha Hula” family program at the Springfield Museums on Monday, January 18. Activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are free with museum admission unless noted. The first 300 visitors will receive a free lei.


Weekend Family Fun programs are sponsored by TD Bank.

 

Performance: Tour of Polynesia – A fun, family-friendly hula dance program with a South Seas touch. Dancers from International Entertainment will present dances from Hawaii, Tahiti and the Maori people of New Zealand; 1 p.m., D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts

 

Enjoy Hawaiian Ice by Carol’s Concessions; 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Science Museum (additional fee).

 

Scavenger Hunts – Discover items invented and made in Springfield as you tour the galleries of the new Museum of Springfield History. Then go on an I Spy scavenger hunt in the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts; 11 a.m.-3:45 p.m.

 

Art Activities – Design your own beach mobile (11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.) and a Hawaiian palm tree (noon-3:45 p.m.); G.W.V. Smith Art Museum.

 

Family Science Adventures – Investigate the world of science through hands-on activities. Learn about sound, electricity, dinosaurs and more; 1-3:30 p.m., Science Museum.
