June 2006 Museums à la Carte Programs

The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in June. Museums à la Carte programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Museum of Fine Arts.


June 1: Hurricane Fatigue: Media Coverage of New Orleans in the Aftermath of Katrina; Katheryn Darrow, Holyoke Community College writing instructor and freelance reporter. June 8: A Great Divide: The Separation of Longmeadow and East Longmeadow in 1894; Dr. Donald D'Amato, history professor, Springfield Technical Community College. June 15: Bigfoot in China: Symbol of Wilderness, Mirror on Humanity; Sigrid Schmalzer, associate professor of history, University of Massachusetts at Amherst. June 22: The American Revolution in Western Massachusetts; Lion Miles, independent scholar and historian. June 29: Pictures of the Floating World: Japanese Printmaking and the Impressionists; Jeanie Schermesser, educator and artist. Admission to Museums à la Carte is $4 ($2 for members of the Springfield Museums). The programs are sponsored by Big Y World Class Market. Visitors are invited to bring lunch to enjoy during the program; dessert and beverage are provided.
