The Springfield Museums will celebrate their annual Holiday Gala on Thursday, December 5, 2013. The Gala provides a wonderful opportunity to both individuals and corporate donors to help underwrite the many innovative exhibits and educational programs offered by the Springfield Museums. The event is sold out, with over 400 tickets purchased.
Guests will gather in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, where they can view the new exhibits of holiday cards and vintage toys while enjoying music by the Berkshire Jazz Underground. Afterwards, the attendees will be served an elegant dinner in the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History. Dining tables will be placed strategically placed next to artifacts of Springfield’s history such as the 1929 Springfield-made Rolls Royce or Lindy high-wheeled racing bike of the 1880s.
Due to the day-of preparations, both the D’Amour Museum of Fine Art and the Wood Museum of Springfield History will be closed on December 5. The Springfield Science Museum and George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum will be open as usual, and general admission will be half-price on that day.
