Walking Tour to Highlight Springfield’s Fabulous Downtown Trees

Burt Freedman, an outdoor education specialist with the Environmental Center for Our Schools (ECOS), will point out some of the magnificent trees in the Quadrangle neighborhood during a walking tour on Saturday, June 11, from 10:30 am to noon. Participants will be surprised to discover some unusual old trees which have been here for many years and often go unnoticed.

Automotive historian Keith Korbut discuss Springfield’s contribution to transportation history during a walking tour on Saturday, May 14, from 10:30 am to noon. The tour will feature a visit to the new Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History to view the museum’s exhibit of Springfield-built automobiles, included an exact working copy of the 1893 Duryea, the first successful gasoline-powered automobile.
