Springfield Museums and City Library to Host “LittleFest”

The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle and the Springfield City Library will host "LittleFest," an event to promote a love of reading in young children, on Thursday, August 11, from 10 am to 4 pm. Activities planned for outdoors will be held inside if it rains.

Free Outdoor Concerts at the Quadrangle – 2011

Bring a picnic supper, a blanket or a lawn chair and join the Springfield Museums and the Armoury-Quadrangle Civic Association for “Wednesdays in the Park,” a series of three free live music concerts by local musicians. The concerts will be held on three Wednesdays in August from 6 to 8 pm on the Quadrangle green. If it rains, the performances will be held in the auditorium of the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.

Photo Exhibit Focuses on Impermanence

Photographer Jessie Carleton creates and photographs still life compositions inspired by traditional Dutch vanitas (vanity) paintings that were designed as reminders of the transient nature of life and the certainty of death. The photos are now on view at the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts through October 9 in the special exhibition Tabletops: Photographs by Jessie Carleton.
