The life of artist Mary Cassatt will be portrayed in a one-woman performance by actress Robin Lane on Sunday, October 24, at 2 pm, at the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts. The program is free with the price of admission to the museum.
The Springfield Museums’ fall lecture series will continue on Wednesday, October 20, at 5 pm with I’ve Got the Light of Freedom presented by Dr. Charles Payne, the Frank P. Hixon Distinguished Service Professor in the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. The program will be held in the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History and is free and open to the public. A reception and book-signing will accompany the talk.
The Springfield Museums’ Weekend Family Fun series will continue on Saturday, October 16, with “Radical Robots.” Activities will take place from 10 am to 4 pm and are free with museum admission unless noted.

The Springfield Museums are launching Culture & Cocktails, a new series of evening events planned for the first Thursday of the month. The first program in the series will be Oktoberfest: The Art of the Brew on October 7 from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History.
The Corporators of the Springfield Museums, at their annual meeting on September 22, 2010, elected two new Trustees to three-year terms. They are Kathleen Kane and Wayne E. Phaneuf.
The Springfield Science Museum’s large rooftop telescope will be open for public sky-gazing on Friday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 pm. The program will be held rain or shine. If it is overcast, a planetarium show will be presented in place of telescope viewing.
