The committee charged with compiling the nominations for the 1000 Great Places revealed the 1000 Great Places list at the State House today. With over 12,000 nominations, the range of Great Places shines on every part of the Commonwealth.

The Springfield Museums have revived Indian Day, the long-standing celebration and rally of the classic motorcycles that were manufactured in the city from 1901 to 1953. Indian Day will take place on Sunday, July 18, from 9 am-4 pm on the grounds of the Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle.
The Springfield Museums are participating in a communal reading of Frederick Douglass's fiery 1852 speech, “The Meaning of the Fourth of July to the Negro.” The shared reading will take place at noon on June 30 in Court Square in Springfield and will be followed by a discussion at First Church.
The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in July. The programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.
Family fun is in store for visitors to the Springfield Museums from July 5 through August 13 during “Summer Festival Days,” six-weeks of live performances, puppet shows, art activities, and hands-on science activities.
Springfield architect William Devlin will lead a walking tour in the Quadrangle-Mattoon Street area on Saturday, June 12, from 10:30 a.m.-noon.
The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will be open seven days a week from June 21 through August 30.
