The Springfield Museums have received a $10,000 grant from TD Banknorth Charitable Foundation for the Museums' Weekend Family Fun series of educational programs.
Weekend Family Fun programs are designed to highlight holidays, special exhibitions, cultural traditions, and topics with family appeal, such as Dr. Seuss. Each program includes a performance, art demonstrations, science activities, and hands-on craft workshops. "Weekend Family Fun is one of our most popular series of programs," said Joseph Carvalho, president and executive director of the Springfield Museums. "We are very grateful to TD Banknorth for making it possible for the Museums to provide such high quality family entertainment to thousands of museum visitors from throughout the area." TD Banknorth, through its charitable giving arm, the TD Banknorth Charitable Foundation, founded in 2002, supports programs and organizations which have proven records of arts and cultural enrichment programs, the development and expansion of programs which foster civic enhancement and address issues related to cultural diversity, and a commitment to programs that promote improvements to community health and human services efforts.
