Sue Heller, a planner with a strong interest in urban design, will lead a downtown walking tour on Saturday, June 9, from 10:30 am-noon. She will highlight some of the modern buildings in the State Street area, some of which have a quirky appeal.
Heller is principal consultant of Heller Associates and has extensive professional experience in New York City. She has worked in the field of urban planning with a focus on public/private development projects and has served on civic boards that work to integrate social issues, design and development.
The tour is part of the Second Saturday Walking Tour series, co-sponsored by the Armoury-Quadrangle Civic Association and the Springfield Museums. Walking tour tickets may be purchased in the museum Welcome Center at 21 Edwards Street on the day of the event. Tickets are free for members of the civic association or of the museums. Tickets for non-members are $5 per person. All proceeds will go toward improvements to the neighborhood.
