It’s the perfect blend for a cold winter day: The Springfield Museums present “Harney & Sons Guide to Tea,” an in-person lecture and tea tasting in the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts on Thursday, January 25, at 12:15pm; free for members, $4 for non-members and Springfield residents. Tickets are available in the Welcome Center on the day of the lecture.
Meant for tea experts and novices alike, this Museums à la Carte lecture features Michael Harney, vice president of Harney & Sons, which is based in Millerton, NY.
Founded in 1983 by John Harney in Salisbury, CT, Harney & Sons is a booming family business that continues to serve tea lovers internationally. Harney will offer background about the company and then review the four major tea and herbal brews. Following the talk, the audience will have the chance to taste a variety of Harney & Sons blends and chat about their favorites.
“Tea is part of daily life for so many,” says Clarissa Leverich, Museum School and Lectures Coordinator. “Whether as a hobby, remedy, or way to start the day, tea has a variety of applications, meaning it’s an experience people are able to share globally. By having one of the leading tea makers in the industry featured in our lecture series, there will be something for both tea enthusiasts and newcomers to enjoy.”
Museums à la Carte is a weekly lecture series at the Springfield Museums covering a range of topics in art, history, science, and more. Check the online program calendar to see whether a lecture is in-person, online, or available in both formats. Always free for members and $4 for non-members and Springfield residents.
