The Springfield Public Schools, in partnership with the Springfield Museums, is sponsoring a Seuss in Springfield Community Project to benefit The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum during the week of February 27-March 3, 2017.
Springfield Museums to Host Annual Birthday Party for Dr. Seuss
On Saturday, March 4, the Springfield Museums will host their annual Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Theodor Seuss Geisel was born in Springfield on March 2, 1904, and the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden is located on the Museums’ Quadrangle. That legacy is celebrated each year with a day full of family activities, performances, and appearances by the Cat in the Hat himself. The celebration, one of the most popular of the Museums’ annual events, is part of the Family Fun series which is supported by the TD Charitable Foundation. Activities are free with museum admission unless otherwise noted.
Springfield Museums Announce Lecture and Tour Schedule for March
The Springfield Museums’ monthly tour and lecture schedule continues in March with the popular Museums à la Carte lectures, which take place on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts. Admission is $4 ($2 for members of the Springfield Museums); visitors are invited to bring a bag lunch (cookies and coffee are provided). It’s all “Fun and Games” at the Springfield Museums for Winter Break

Nominees Being Sought for Annual Ubora and Ahadi Awards
The African Hall Subcommittee of the Springfield Museums is seeking nominations for the 26th annual Ubora Award and the 9th annual Ahadi Youth Award. The African Hall Subcommittee is a volunteer group comprised of educators, business people and community leaders from the African-American community. The nomination deadline for both awards is March 31, 2017.
