Springfield Museums to Participate in Blue Star Museums Program

The Springfield Museums will be one of more than 1,500 museums across America to participate in the Blue Star Museums program, which provides free admission to active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 2012. The Blue Star Museums program is a collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Department of Defense.

“We are proud and honored to participate in this wonderful program again this year. It represents one small thing that the Springfield Museums can do as an organization to support the men and women who are serving our country,” said Holly Smith-Bové, president of the Springfield Museums.

Free admission is available during the summer to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card. These include active duty military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard), National Guard and Reserve members, and up to five family members.

The program provides general admission to all four Springfield Museums. Planetarium fees or other special program fees are not included.
