Summer Festival Days at the Springfield Museums will continue from July 22 through 25 with "Puppet Festival Week." Activities are free with the price of museum admission unless noted.
Tuesday, July 22 Performance: "Puppet Vaudeville" by Purple Rock Productions," 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 Performance: "Field of Faeries" by the No Strings Marionette Company, 1 p.m. Live animal demonstrations, 12:15-12:45 p.m. Thursday, July 24 Museums á la Carte program: "The History of Puppetry," a demonstration and lecture by Rolande Duprey, a puppeteer with Purple Rock Productions, 12:15 p.m. (ages 7 and up; fee $2 for children and museum members, $4 for nonmembers). Live animal demonstrations, 12:15-12:45 p.m. Friday, July 25 "The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" and "The Lazy Fox/El Zorro Perezoso" by Spring Valley Puppet Theater, 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday: Pan for gems and fossils at the Museum Mining Company, noon-4 p.m. (additional fee) Art-making workshops, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Hands-on Family Science Adventures, Tues. – Thurs., 2-4 p.m.; Fri., noon-2 p.m. Planetarium shows, 11:15 a.m., noon, 1 & 2 p.m., Science Museum (additional fee).
