Community’s Creatives: Jocelyn Torres

With five different museums and a sculpture garden, the Springfield Museums have plenty to inspire creativity! We are especially excited when we hear stories of how our Museums motivate visitors to share works of art. This was exactly the case with Springfield teen, Jocelyn Torres.

A fan of Chadwick Boseman’s acting in Black Panther (2018) and inspired by him as a person, Jocelyn was encouraged to draw him. However, it wasn’t until Jocelyn visited the Wood Museum of Springfield History and saw the Ruth E. Carter-Black Panther exhibit that she decided to share her drawing with the Museums.

“I really enjoy the Museums and just how many things there are to see, but if I had to say my favorite it has to be the History Museum since I love learning about this city’s history.” —Jocelyn Torres

To admire more of Jocelyn’s creations, especially in-person, look no further than Wahlburgers! Hanging on the wall of the Wahlburger establishment, located just minutes from the Springfield Museums, is a drawing of Chef Paul Wahlberg that Jocelyn created, and presented to him, herself.

Also, follow Jocelyn’s mother and biggest supporter, Glenda Torres, on Instagram to stay updated on all of Jocelyn’s new creations!
