The Springfield Museums’ monthly tour and lecture schedule returns in September with the popular Thursday Museums à la Carte lectures, held weekly at 12:15 p.m. in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts. Admission is $4 ($2 for members of the Springfield Museums); visitors are invited to bring lunch (cookies and coffee are provided). The programs are sponsored by Big Y World Class Market. Springfield Museums and City Library to Host “LittleFest”
The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle and the Springfield City Library will host the annual “LittleFest” event to promote a love of reading in young children, on Saturday, September 13, from 10 am to 5 pm.
Museums to Host Community Picnic
Art Picnic, a public arts project designed to beautify Springfield and allow local art students to collaborate with established artists, will culminate with a Community Picnic on Sunday, August 24 from noon–2 pm.

Springfield Museums Selected for National Assessment Program
The Springfield Museums have been selected to participate in the Museum Assessment Program (MAP). The program is funded by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and administered by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). Last year, the Springfield Museums received full accreditation from the AAM, a milestone that only 6% museums in America have achieved.
Museums’ Family Series Features Free Admission on July 18, 2014
The “Summer Spectacular Family Series” at Springfield Museums continues during the week of July 14. The six-week series includes a host of programs and events every weekday through August 15. All programs and performances are free with admission unless otherwise noted.
Museums Mark Fifth Annual Indian Motocycle Day
The Springfield Museums will present their fifth annual Indian Day, a revival of a long-standing celebration and rally of the classic motorcycles that were manufactured in the city from 1901 to 1953. Indian Day will take place on Sunday, July 20, from 9 am- 3 pm on the grounds of the Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle. The event is sponsored by The Sampson Family and AAA Pioneer Valley. MassMutual is the 2014 Premier Sponsor of the Springfield Museums.
Museums Announce Six-Week Summer 2014 Family Series
The Springfield Museums have announced the schedule for their annual “Summer Spectacular” Family Series, which runs from July 7 through August 15, 2014. Every Monday through Friday, families visiting the Quadrangle can look forward to a schedule packed with hands-on art and science activities, live reptile demonstrations, and family entertainment for all ages. All programs and performances are free with admission unless otherwise noted. The 2014 premier sponsor is MassMutual.
Museums Seek Artists for Art Picnic
The Springfield Museums have received a $5,000 grant from the Xeric Foundation to present Art Picnic, a public arts project designed to beautify Springfield and give local art students from Distinctive Art Studio the chance to collaborate with established artists. The project will help to boost the creative economy of Springfield by providing a vehicle for local artists to display their work, while also allowing local art students to expand their skills, build their resumes and feel motivated to pursue a career in the arts. Art Picnic was first launched in the summer of 2013, when over 24 artists and students worked to create unique artwork on tables at the Museums.

Museums Announce New Prices, Summer Hours 2014
The Springfield Museums have announced new prices for general admission, which covers entry to the Springfield Science Museum, the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History, and the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum.
