Museums à la Carte – October 2006
The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in November. The programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Museum of Fine Arts.
Stars Over Springfield
Members of the Springfield Stars Club will set up telescopes for public sky-gazing on the Springfield Museums' Quadrangle on Friday, November 3, at 7:30 p.m.
Ansel Adams Exhibition
Dramatic black and white photographs of the western landscape will be on view at the Museum of Fine Arts from October 24-December 17 in the exhibition Ansel Adams: The Man Who Captured the Earth's Beauty.
TD Banknorth Grant
The Springfield Museums have received a $12,500 grant from TD Banknorth Charitable Foundation for the Museums' Weekend Family Fun series of educational programs.
Dramatic Performance
The Museum of Fine Arts will host a performance of With Dream Awakened Eyes, an original play about the life and work of a female Jewish artist in Nazi Germany, on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. The program is free with the price of museum admission.
Native American Pow Wow – 2006
The Springfield Museums will celebrate fall with a Native American Pow Wow on Saturday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Quadrangle grounds. The event is a traditional Native American harvest celebration with native food, crafts, demonstrations and over 25 singers, drummers and dancers. The Pow Wow is part of the Museums' Weekend Family Fun series and is sponsored by TD Banknorth.
Walking Tour – October 2006
Dr. Cecelia Gross, chair of the History/Political Science Department at Springfield Technical Community College, will lead a walking tour of important sites in the Court Square area from 10:30-noon on Saturday, Oct. 14. The tour will begin and end at the Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle on Edwards Street off Chestnut Street.

Nature Photography – 2006
Nature photography by camera artist John Green of Belchertown, Mass., will be on view from Sept. 26, 2006 through Jan. 7, 2007 in the Community Gallery at the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts. The public is invited to a free reception with the artist on Oct. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. Community Gallery exhibitions are sponsored by The Republican.
