Marionettes to Perform Hansel & Gretel at the Springfield Museums
The Springfield Museums’ Family Fun series will continue on Friday, November 11, with a performance of Hansel & Gretel. Family activities will take place from 10 am to 4 pm and are free with museum admission unless noted.
Actress Brings Isabella Stewart Gardner to Life
The adventurous life of art patron and museum founder Isabella Stewart Gardner will be portrayed in a one-woman performance by actress Robin Lane on Sunday, November 6, at 2 pm, at the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts. The program is free with the price of admission to the museum.
Print Exhibit Features Scenes of Paris
Scenes of the “City Of Light” will be on view at the Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts from November 1, 2011, through April 29, 2012, in the exhibition Je Ne Sais Quoi: Views of Paris.
Watercolors by Connecticut Artist on View at D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts
A series of 23 abstract watercolor paintings by Connecticut artist C. Ronald Bechtle (born 1924) will be on view at the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts from October 25, 2011, through October 28, 2012 in the exhibition Poems II, 1969-1972: Watercolors by C. Ronald Bechtle.
Culture & Cocktails Explores the Secrets of the Smith
Mix up your work week with a toast to culture, community and conversation. “The Hidden Secrets of the Smith Museum,” the second event in this year’s Culture & Cocktails series, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 5 to 8 pm in the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum at the Quadrangle.

The Springfield Museums will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in November. The programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 pm in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.
Telescope to Focus on Jupiter
Stars Club member Mike Kozicki will give a talk about Jupiter at the Springfield Science Museum on Friday, November 4, at 7:30 pm. Following the talk, the museum’s large rooftop telescope will be opened to view the giant planet. If it is cloudy, a planetarium show will be presented instead.
“Molecular Playground” Exhibit Opens at Springfield Science Museum
As a way of making science fun and easier to understand, the Springfield Science Museum has partnered with the University of Massachusetts Amherst to install a “molecular playground” at the museum. The interactive display introduces visitors to the beauty of chemicals and molecular structure.
Museums Seeking Entries in 2011 Gingerbread House Competition
The Springfield Museums are inviting bakeries, schools, individual bakers and young people to submit design plans to create gingerbread houses that will be on view at the Springfield Science Museum as part of the holiday exhibit “Gingerbread Fantasy.”
