The Springfield Museums will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in October. The programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 pm in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.
Philanthropy the Subject of Museum Exhibit
An exhibit highlighting philanthropists who have left a lasting legacy in Springfield and the Pioneer Valley is on view through November 20 at the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History at the Quadrangle.
TD Charitable Foundation Supports Springfield Museums with Donation
TD Bank, through the TD Charitable Foundation, recently donated $10,000 to the Springfield Museums as part of the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community.
Springfield Museums Launch Lively 2011 New Culture & Cocktails Series
The Springfield Museums will begin its second season of Culture & Cocktails events with Oktoberfest: The Art of the Brew on Thursday, October 6 from 5-8 pm at the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History. The evening is sponsored by Lyman and Merrie Wood.
Springfield Museums Host Vintage Car Show
The Springfield Museums will pay tribute to Springfield’s role in transportation history with the History on the Move car show on Saturday, September 24, from 10 am to 4 pm, on the museum grounds at the Quadrangle. Pre-1980 cars, including vintage automobiles manufactured in Springfield, will be exhibited.
Springfield Museums to Preview Ken Burns Documentary
WGBY Public Television and the Springfield Museums will host a sneak preview and discussion of Ken Burns’ and Lynn Novick’s new PBS documentary series Prohibition on Sunday, September 25, from 2-4 pm, at the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts at the Quadrangle. The program is free and open to the public.
Museum School Offers Courses for Children and Adults – 2008
Registration for fall Museum School courses for children and adults and travel opportunities for adults at the Springfield Museums will begin on September 6. Stars Over Springfield at the Springfield Science Museum
Jack Megas of the Springfield Stars Club will present, "Late Summer Observing" at the Springfield Science Museum on Friday, Sept. 2, at 7:30 pm.
Springfield Museums Receive Large Federal Grant
The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle have received a grant of $320,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) toward the installation of climate modification in the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum. The grant is part of the NEH’s Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections program.
2011 Ubora Award and Ahadi Youth Award Recipients to be Honored
The African Hall Subcommittee of the Springfield Museums will present the 20th annual Ubora Award and the 3rd annual Ahadi Youth Award at a ceremony on Saturday, September 17, at 6 pm, at the Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts at the Quadrangle. Dr. Albert and Mrs. Geraldine Garner have been selected to receive the Ubora Award, and Bria Brantley will receive the Ahadi Award.

Springfield Museums Announce Fall Hours and Planetarium Schedule
The Springfield Museums will resume fall hours on September 1. Hours at all four museums are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am-5 pm, and Sunday, 11 am-5 pm.
