Children and families can explore the wonders of Greece and Rome at the Springfield Museums the week of August 1 during "Ancient Adventures" summer programs. The programs have been planned to celebrate the new Ancient Treasures gallery in the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum.

The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle are recruiting volunteer docents to lead tours and programs for children and adults in the Museum of Fine Arts or the Springfield Science Museum.

"Ancient Adventures" summer programs for families at the Springfield Museums will continue the week of July 25 with activities centered on ancient China. "Ancient Adventures" programs have been planned in conjunction with the opening of the new Ancient Treasures gallery in the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum.

A few spaces are still available in the Springfield Museums' cultural tour of the art and music of Austria from October 9 through 17, 2006. The trip has been planned in recognition of the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth.

"Ancient Adventures" summer programs for families at the Springfield Museums will continue the week of July 18 with activities centered on ancient India.

One of the most important events in American history is commemorated in the exhibition A Nation Divided: The American Civil War Depicted by Currier & Ives, on view from June 30 through December 31, 2006, at the Museum of Fine Arts.
