Springfield Museums to Participate in 5th Annual Museum Day

The Springfield Museums will participate in the fifth annual Museum Day on Saturday, September 26, 2009. Museum Day is presented by Smithsonian magazine. The Springfield Museums, along with other museums nationwide, will be open free of charge to Smithsonian magazine readers and Smithsonian.com visitors.

2009 Ubora Award and Ahadi Youth Award Recipients to be Honored

The African Hall Subcommittee of the Springfield Museums will present the 18th annual Ubora Award and the 1st annual Ahadi Youth Award at a ceremony on Saturday, September 19, at 7 p.m., at the Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts at the Quadrangle. Ronald A. Copes has been selected to receive the Ubora Award and Myles Postell-Reynolds will receive the Ahadi Award.

Brian Connors, Deputy Director of the City of Springfield's Office of Planning & Economic Development and member of the Springfield Preservation Trust, will lead a walking tour focused on the State Street corridor on Saturday, September 12, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Springfield Museums Announce Fall Hours and Admission

The Springfield Museums will resume fall hours on September 1. Hours at the Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts and the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum are Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Science Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
