January 2009 Museums à la Carte Programs
The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in January. The programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.
Museums to Host Medieval Days
Families are invited to enter the magical world of lords, ladies and knights in shining armor during “Medieval Days” at the Springfield Museums from December 27 to 30. Activities are free with the price of museum admission unless noted.
New Museum’s Great Hall Addition to be Named SIS Hall
The Springfield Museums are pleased to announce that the great hall addition which is part of the new Museum of Springfield History will be named SIS Hall.
Holiday Music from Latin America and Puerto Rico
Musicians Lorena Garay and Eugenio Huanca will present a Family Holiday Celebration of music from Latin America and Puerto Rico on Saturday, December 12, at 2 p.m. in the Davis Auditorium of the Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts at the Quadrangle.

The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will present the following Museums à la Carte program in December. Because of the holidays, there will be just one program in December.
Stars Over Springfield at the Springfield Science Museum
The Springfield Science Museum's large rooftop telescope will be open for public sky-gazing on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Have an Amazing Art Adventure at the Springfield Museums
The Springfield Museums' Family Fun series will continue on Friday, November 27, with "Amazing Art Adventures." Activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are free with museum admission unless noted.
Walking Tour to Highlight Springfield Artist Chester Harding
Art historian and critic Gloria Russell will lead a walking tour through the Quadrangle neighborhood where artist Chester Harding once lived on Saturday, November 14, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The tour will begin at the Springfield Museums.
Winslow Homer’s New Novel Featured in Watercolor Exhibition
Some of the finest watercolors at the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts are now on view through Oct. 24, 2010, in the exhibition Watercolor Highlights from the Permanent Collection.
Actress Brings Georgia O'Keeffe to Life
"Artful Lives: A Living Portrait of Georgia O'Keeffe" will be presented by Boston actress Robin Lane at the Michele and Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. The program is free with the price of admission to the museum.
Camera Obscured: Photograms by Paul Bloomfield
An exhibition of photographic images called "photograms" by Wilbraham artist Paul Bloomfield will be on view at the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts from Oct. 27, 2009, through Jan. 10, 2010. A free reception with the artist will be held on November 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the museum.
Stars Over Springfield at the Springfield Science Museum
The Springfield Science Museum's large rooftop telescope will be open for public sky-gazing on Friday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m. The program will be held rain or shine. If it is overcast, a planetarium show will be presented in place of telescope viewing.
