July 2008 Walking Tour
Ed Lonergan, a local historian and Springfield reference librarian, will lead a walking tour in the Ridgewood Historic District in Springfield Saturday, July 12, from 10:30 a.m.-noon.
Summer Festival Days
Family fun is in store for visitors to the Springfield Museums from July 8 through August 15 during "Summer Festival Days," six-weeks of live performances, arts and crafts workshops and hands-on science activities.
Realism Exhibition
The New Reality: The Frontier of Realism in the 21st Century, an exhibition that compares contemporary Realism painting with its historical predecessors, will be on view at the Michele and Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts from July 15 through November 16.
June 2008 Youth Summer Courses
Registration is underway for summer courses for children and teens at the Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle. July Museums à la Carte
The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in July. The programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Museum of Fine Arts.
Museum Temporarily Closed
The Michele and Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts at the Quadrangle will be closed for electrical upgrades from Tuesday, June 24 through Friday, June 27. The other three Springfield Museums and the Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden will be open regular hours.
Grant Announcement
The National Endowment for the Humanities announced yesterday it awarded $600,000 to the Springfield Museums Association for the construction of a local history museum adjacent to the Quadrangle.
Teacher Open House – June 2008
The Springfield Museums will hold an Open House for principals, teachers and PTO leaders from Pre-K through 12th grade schools on Tuesday, August 19, from 2:30-5:30 p.m. The event will help school educators learn about the Museums and how a field trip can supplement classroom study.
June 2008 Walking Tour
Springfield architect William Devlin will lead a walking tour in the Quadrangle-Mattoon Street area on Saturday, May 14, from 10:30 a.m.-noon.
New Dinosaur Exhibit
What was a dinosaur's family life like? Discover the answers in the exhibition Hatching the Past: The Great Dinosaur Egg Hunt, on view from June 14 through September 28 at the Springfield Science Museum.
