The Springfield Museums will host their third Culture & Cocktails event of the season on Thursday, December 13 from 5-8 pm at the Springfield Science Museum. The event, titled “Champagne and Mistletoe,” is sponsored by The Valley Advocate.

Modern Dialect Exhibit brings early 20th Century American Paintings to Springfield
Modern Dialect: American Paintings from the John and Susan Horseman Collection will be on view in the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts from November 20, 2012-February 24, 2013. The exhibition illustrates American Modernism from the 1920s to the beginning of World War II, a period marked by significant change and compounded by the onset of the Great Depression in the 1930s. The more than sixty major American Scene paintings in the exhibition illustrate the changes the nation underwent through the eyes of American artists who were often poor and out of work.
Museums to Offer “Trash to Treasure” Preview for Teachers
The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will host a free Teacher Preview of their new “Trash to Treasure” school program on November 15, 2012 from 4-6 pm at the Michele & Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts. Refreshments will be served

Stars Over Springfield at the Science Museum Marks Special Anniversary
The Springfield Science Museum will be open for public sky-gazing on Friday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. The program will be held rain or shine. If it is cloudy, a planetarium show will be presented in place of telescope viewing.
